Juts a few
places...State Forests/Parks
- Toolangi
- Mt Dissappointment
- Lederderg/Wombat
are quite close, closer than 2 hours. All have a variety of tracks ranging from easy to any level of difficulty you desire. It's a case of choose one, and go.
Melbourne is probably the world's best located city for 4WD adventures in the locality.
If you aren't a member of a club I'd recommend joining one and exploring the forests that way, it's a lot safer.

Then Toolangi, Woods,
walhalla, etc out that way, some are bit more than 2 hours, but all worth it.
Maybe join a club, and go that way.

Hi Magic,
I'm in the Nissan club, also Awill4x4 on here, and IAMGQ was going to make an apperance the other week, not sure if he did or not.
Les
Miles the
driver training instructor is a GOOD instructor, as is the rest of the team, and the weekend of
driver training is a blast!
As you saw by the certifications handed out at the last meeting, we have some of the best highly qualified instructors there are.
Look out for me next months meeting.. I usually sit down the back in the center, next to the double doors away from everyone, big fat ugly prick, you cant miss me...

Magic,
Some great tracks that would suit your needs - close to Melb, cn be found at Bunyip State
Park, Warbuton, Toolangi, Yarra Ranges etc. Be glad to show you around as we head out out most weekends. Note that a lot of the more interesting (& challenging) tracks are about to close for the winter as of 12 June, (some already closed) but there are still some enjoyable drives to be had. Let me know if you're interested .
Cheers, Les

Jeez - that's only nearl all of bloody victoria.
Try Morwell and
Warburton - I did some good stuff there in a near stock Vitara and still had a great time
Don't consider going out alone as the risks for an inexperienced (4w)driver are much higher and it always helps to have a few people around to snatch you out.
There's so many 4wd clubs looking for people to go out every weekend you'll never need to see the missus again.
Try a few out and join the one with the best members - not necessarily the one with the same badge as your car.
