Greetings guys - I have been able to get a week of next month - The misses and i will also be Kid free for this week - so we want to take advantage of this and just get away.

Now that we are going to be alone - we want to see some new places. We have a nissan Patrol 4.2 TDI and take a Jayco Flamingo Outback with us - Places we normally Visit include Lithgow ( Newnes ) Barrington Tops ( telegherry river ) Upper Turon River and Stockton Beach

Now i believe that this time of year , much of Barringtons is closed - So with that said - do you guys have any suggestions where we can go ? needs to be near a river and not a "pay" camp site - we have our own toilet / and shower facilitys and the Pop top is Offroad

so can you guys suggest any places or a few places , as we would like to visit a few different places rather than just one. Also if you have photos and GPS co-ordinates - it would be even better ( if not i can find on my oziexplorer.

i do have the new version of " Camping in Australia" by Cathy savage and Craig Lewis - but a little disappointed with it as it does not show many photos of camping sites or GPS co ordinates- and some of the places i had visited down south ( from the book ) were very disappointing

so can you help us with your suggestions

The South Coast and Hinterland come to mind. A bit cool this time of the year though.

Places like; Bendethra. The Big Hole. Turos Falls. All free camp sites, and I think all are listed under "Places".

Sydney, Cobar, Louth, Tilpa, Wanaaring...and if you feel you could go on further..Hungerford, Currawinya Nat Park..then home via Macquarie Marshes..Coonamble, Scone and Sydney..but you can trim this to suit your speed etc !! all great places to go and weather will be heaps better than on the coast !!

... Ok .........

Just Kind of decided maybe give Sofala a go -- i have not been there for about 15 years , cant imagine much has changed ( or hill end )

can anyone tell me if there is water in the rivers up there - and should we avoid -- or definitely go there at tis time of year

for the record .... we love camping in winter -- love the cold ...... hey i even choose to take my hayabusa(road bike ) to work each morning at 5 am in winter rather than the warmth of a car :)

what do you guys think ??

Louth is on the Darling River and goes all way to Tilpa..then to Wilcannia..or Goulburn River National Park near Merriwa..good camping by River at the end of 4wd track...just the place to get away from the crowds !!
