We are heading to the Simpson in August - want to stop over at Painted Desert - keep reading bits & pieces about ArcKaringa Station being the place to stay - but can not come up with anything more than that.
Does any one know about the place?

When we were there last year, there was a young couple managing the station.

Basic camping area but as already mentioned, they have shower/toilet facilities.

There is a fire pit adjacent to the camping area and plenty of firewood nearby. The managers will probably join you for a mag around the campfire and they also have a very friendly dog.

Beware of the cat however. It will steal your BBQ meat given half a chance.

Arckaringa Station is a great place to base yourselves, as the best viewing for the Painted Desert is either sunup, or sundown and it's only a short drive to the two lookout points from the Station.

2 years ago now but a fantastic experience. We called in and stayed for 2 nights. Nothing special, except the location, the ambience, the stars and so on.

Had a night there last year. Yes, painted desert views were great but stars and sitting around fire there with family and good friends is my best memory.

Stayed there in 06 ....beautiful

Great place to camp up.

Managers are a really nice young couple, good old fashioned country hospitality.

Have hot showers, and a TV "common room", and even cabing if you want them..

Ph/fax... 08 8670 7992

Richard and Gemma ran the place when we stayed, and hope to drop in on them next year,,on the way up to our Canning Stock Route, and Kimberley trip..

C'Mon 09 ....Yeh !

Daniel runs it now but is under the williams brothers station . Worth a look and ask where there is a better veiw that the tourists dont see. If you have kids ask for a ride on his horse sweety. Cheers Tony ps Fergus the no tail cattle dog is great.
