Up to the last half hour we have had 80 mm good rain - some heavy showers, thunder as
well. Yesterday we had 23 mm and the rest today.
Birdsville Track has had same and at the moment all roads in and out are closed, especially
Walkers Crossing. No, have no idea how long it will be. Amazing what a bit of sunshine will do - I will keep you posted. Beautiful rain tho.

Hullo Ruth,
What do you think the prospects are for
Innamincka? Too far away to tell, timewise?
I see in another thread all the roads north of
Broken Hill are closed.
Might have to shift the Gathering to Mandurah !!

Stephen, be good to have one in WA!
Innamincka will be fine - starry sky last night, saw the moon, cloudy this a.m. but no rain since last night.
There's a car stopped in the middle of the mud outside our place - couldn't turn the corner, it's not bogged - but it is a Discovery (he he he).

Hi ya Vince, the roads have been really good, considering they'd been dry graded. Came in from the east on Tuesday (through the flood waters at
Thylungra - I'm an intrepid adventurer and came through the fast running water - figured if I made an idiot of myself there were plenty of campers on either side to pull me out) Ha ha.
This will settle the roads down really
well - except for the people who have left ploughing up the roads after they were officially shut, but you always get that. Unfortunately for us the graders are all up the top end of the Shire - frantically doing the upgrade to the
Bedourie Airport to enable us to have Saab's instead of Metros - also the top end roads need doing again. AS you know it's never ending.
See you when you get here.

Yeah I remember! The big old white cat, Mrs Cat, went to
heaven at 18 years of age - the Birman went to
heaven at 9 years of age and the old fella is still a pain in
the neck. He's got another Birman, Buster, who is a very adept camping/desert cat. Little bit of sun shining through this a.m. Best winter rain for years and years but not that wide spread according to the ABC News.
Graeme Connors was here on Saturday night for the Defy the Drougt Concert - which was fantastic - and it has rained since then.
When you get here look for the house in the rig photo - we've got the tallest flag pole in town (and nearest the
Simpson Desert now also).

Bucky, everything's full! The shed's full (because he didn't get the flashing on in time), the patio is full, the back of his V8 ute is full because he didn't take the bungs out and if he's shifted it his wheels would have got dirty in the slush!!
The billabong's filled up and looking towards the road to the
Simpson Desert can just see water. Yippee - flowers should be good later on.

Hi there - we are going fine thank you - looking forward to seeing you all soon. Took some photos today when out driving (only on the bitumen) - doing the normal drive around town from the end of the bitumen to the other end of the bitumen. Will put them up in my Gallery as soon as I finish this. New signs on both end of town - which will be of interest. Most rain was around Clifton Hills so this end of Walkers is really wet. Was talking to
Cordillo Downs before lunch and they have magic water
views - 70 mm there.

Hi Ruth!
Planning to come to
Birdsville via
Walkers crossing on 15/16 June so only a week to dry out.
Would appreciate further road reports in a few days.
Trust that V8 is going fine!

Hi Ruth,
Great news - glad it didn't happen a few weeks back :-)) Weather was perfect for us.
We had a really nice trip. Spent 3 nights and put the kayaks in at
Diamantina Lakes - water level looked a bit lowish though, but the birdlife was great. Managed to catch a few legal size yellowbelly and grunters, which cooked up nicely in foil. There were a few other campers there. And brought in some gidgee from outside the park, so managed a nice fire.
Followed it up with Old Cork,
Lark Quarry and
Longreach, but the time we spent at Lochern, on the Thompson river was magic. Great stretch of water, prime campspot and no other campers - we stopped for lunch, and stayed on. I had to cut the trip short at that stage and make a dash to
Sydney, but the rest of the group spent a couple of days at Coongie.
Cheers
phil

Well, Lochern - that's good to know. Don't tell anyone tho.
Had an email from CD so knew you'd had to make a dash. Lucky you got fish - we will be able to now and the yabbies should come in again. River is
well up this am - just took some photos and will put them in my Gallery when I finish this.

Hi GG Nice to hear about the rain, we had a bit here too but only 17mm. hopefully more to come later in the week. It looks like the country will be a treat when we get up there next month. I'll be there with my brother so you can pick on him instead of me. We are off to
Birdsville after the gathering and then a quick trip across
the Desert afterwards. Might have company too which will be great.
Look forward to seeing you and I hope the Golden tressels are longer and more golden.
Mine might be falling out but I recon I'm getting more head instead.
Cheers

Hi DL - think you are due for more bit later this week. I would be happy to pick on your brother - but he's probably quite nice. Few people going across after the Party.
Whilst away this week I fell into the Fountain of Youth so golden tresses not so golden - more like a 17 year olds (I wish!). See you sooner tho. GG

Hi Ruth
We are planning to commence The
Hay river run on the 24/07 from your place. Did the
Hay track get any of the wet stuff.
Regards
Stan

Stan, not sure yet but would think. Report from SandMan last night that he'd been speaking with David Olsen who was at Poepples (on HF) and drizzling and claypans wet. May not have been anything up the top end though. Keep looking and I will post as soon as I hear anything.
