Almost got the CT packed to go and leaving Brisy 1st August.
Plan to be around Katherine about the 5th August, and then a slower trip around the top and home for early September.
Reckon the first few days are going to be at least $200.00 a day for fuel :o(
But then it should be down hill from the NT coming home :o)

Any one else travelling the top end then?
Let me know and I will keep and eye open for you.

Have put a couple of EO stickers on the red paj and galvanized CT.
No roof rack and tent this time, pure luxury in the CT.

Savannah Way - Borroloola to Lawn Hill in late August.
Looks like we will be travelling this road by ourselves in late August and maybe first couple of days of September coming home from NT to Qld. Any one else on this road around then?

Back in Brisbane for fathers day, 7th September.

Thanks to every one for helping in planning the trip.

Hello Oldplodder,

We are leaving Victoria on 8th August and will be in Borroloola for their show/rodeo on the 15th August. From there we are taking it slowly up the Savannah Way. We're stopping at Lorella Springs for a few nights and exploring the Southern and Western Lost Cities on our way up to Roper Bar and then into Mataranka.

If you're on that track at the same time we have a White/silver Prado and towing a Camper Trailer. We'd enjoy catching up with you.

Thanks Vivien,

Will keeps the peepers open.

Thanks for the heads up on the rodeo at Borrooola. Might not make it though. Planning to be around Kakadu / Darwin about then , give or take a few days. Don't work to an exact itinerary.

We might be travelling with friend too in a Prado, a new D4D of that funny brown/charcoal colour. He reckons the new D4D is going to kill me in fuel usage, so the challange will be on. I have the old 2.8 diesel, but we have a CT that is about 300kg lighter than his pop top 15' van, so we will see.

Pity about the colds. Need some scotch and lemon for that. Let you be the judge of the right quantities. :o)

Sounds like a great trip John

Fuel price has been coming down again, slightly, and maybe your luck re fuel will change :-)

Have a good one.

Thanks Willem,

Sorry we couldn't make Innamincka. Maybe 2009.

That photo shows some serious wood on the fire!

Fuel prices, if you want to go you go. It's only going to get more expensive.

Di and I are currently spending some quality time in the WARM with #2 son in Darwin. On the dates mentioned #1 son and family will arrive and we intend to do a loop of Bynoe Harbour -- Litchfield Park--Adelaide River --Douglas Daly Hot Springs and return to Darwin.
We will be in two vehicles, my Prado with the Kimberley Karavan and a Rav 4 emblazoned with S&L logo towing a Trak Shak CT.
Look forward to meeting you if our paths cross. ( and any other EO adherents).

Hopefully catch you.

When will you be in Brisy?

Will be interesting to compare Lawn Hill to the NT gorges, was at lawn Hill in 1999, but turned east last time to come home.
Planning to call in this time on the way home as a last wind down before the couple of days on the road to get home to Brisy, and work again.

Take your time on the Cape, and have a good trip, we had a good trip in 1996. Had five weeks Brisbane to tip and back again, and it wasn't long enough :o)

Hi Oldplodder,
I have to be back in Bris from the Cape by 2nd September, wife flies out on 3rd.

I then pick up a mate (who also sends his wife home) and we leave for Perth as soon as we restock the truck. I was going to keep the vehicle in QL for about a year but my mate only has six months to do everything he always wanted to do :-((. As this will be his last trip anywhere I have offered to show him a bit of the outback and we will be going via Innamincka, Cameron Corner, Coober Pedy, Painted Desert, Old Andado, Alice, Laverton. We fly home to NZ on 5th October.

Should have time to catch up briefly if you are home. Send me a members mail with your phone number and I will give you a call.
