They are made in
Melbourne but not by Scenic. They are made by Spaceland Caravans up near the ford factory. They are sold as Island Star in
Adelaide - Scenic in
Melbourne - Spaceland in
Sydney & Queensland and
Norseman in Tasmania. I am typing this sitting in a Spaceland van.
Things you have to look out for is your van may br heavier than the declared tare weight, both
mine are, the second one around 200 kg heavier. Advise the salesman that you are going to weigh the van immediately after delivery and have the maximum expected tare weight specified in your contract.
Apart from that they are an excellent van. The first one travelled in excess of 120,000 km and the second is now up over 60,000 km. Both have travelled a lot of gravel roads without shedding any bits.

Thanks. This is proving to be more and more confusing. We have a 2008 Toyota Kluger with a towing capacity of 2000kg. We dont intend going off-road and only staying in parks so dont have to carry
water. Maybe we should be looking at Geist or Burstner. Any thoughts?????

What size Island Star are you talking about? I neglected to add that the smaller models and pop-tops are not built by Spaceland. If you look on the compliance plate you will see who did build it.
I would prefer to go for a slightly smaller van before going for one of the European vans, particularly if you wish to do a little
bush camping. They have less under body clearance which will make it harder to get though dips and over humps. They also have very small
water tanks. If the van is only for a couple look at the rear entry vans.

Thanks again. The Island Star we have been looking at is approx. 21 feet with rear door, rear seating, mid shower and
toilet, middle kitchen and front queen bed. We asked if they could reverse the inside so we have a front door, front seating, middle kitchen, mid shower and
toilet and rear queen bed. The salesman thought it wouldnt be a problem - do you agree.
Thanks
