Gday to All The Binns Track Alice to
Timber creek, could anyone give us some info about this section of the track. How are the
creek crossings on the track , is the
water deep and are the bottoms soft. We dont have a
snorkel on the old diesel cruiser, we dont mind a rough track in
places but we are worried about
deep creek crossings etc . Permits do we need to get any, we dont intend to go into any communities, we guess it would only be for national parks. We dont travel with any other vehicles, Any info about the track would be appreciated. Thank you Pam & Graham

Having driven all of the roads and tracks of the Binns Track over a number of years there is very little 4x4 challenge, if any, and up to where you enter
Gregory National Park(with the exception of Ruby Gap,
Cattlewater Pass and to some extent Davenport Ranges) the whole trek can be done in an ordinary car. There may be a
water crossing in the Davenport Ranges and one on the
Humbert Track but nothing that would be deper than half wheel height or 500mm.(During the rainy season the
Victoria River will rise over the causeway but in the dry serason the there may only be a trickjle of
water over the floodway)
Go have a look
here for further info
Cheers

Hi mate,
I was at the
Gregory Nation
Park last week and there is still some
water in some of the creeks around the
Bullita Homestead camp grounds and the access road. Nothing to scare you off that is for sure. This Binns track got me excited until I actually read where it was and discovered that most of it is on the highway with the
Gregory at one end and the Davenport at the other. Permits aren't required as far as I can tell but you transit aboriginal land from when you leave the
Gregory NP to the Victoria highway and there is a
sign saying no grog. The roads can be very dusty so a
snorkel is always a good investment in these conditions even if the
creek crossings aren't demanding. If you goto:

This gives a lot of info on the
park
and the 4WD tracks are on:

Hope this helps.
