Time for another dose of red dust and campfire smoke!... mid October this year
Thinking of the area roughly surrounding
Southern Cross and what natural attractions there may be there suitable for a
camp for a few days just to veg out and relax, walk and enjoy the peace
Baladjie and
Elachbutting Rock are some examples near
Westonia, have done Yellowdine and Karalee Dam etc but there must be others in that rough geographic area that memebrs know of?
would appreciate some suggestions please
Thanks Bungarra

Elachbutting Rock is a nice place to
camp, if you've never been there is quite a bit to see. You looked at the Trips out of Kalgoorle Book there are some good trips in that. Heading out around the Woodlines is also nice. Head up around Koolyanobbing and head North over the haul road and work your way East to the Ryans Find Road and then back South to the Gt Eastern Hwy.

Giday Bung,
Southern Cross north to Koolynobbling and then another 55 kms north to the Helena Ranges.
Camping is awesome up in the ranges. Either stay there or quietly criuse the track to the Jaurdi
Homestead and back out to the Great Eastern H/way via Ryans Find Rd.
Check out Page 67 in the QPA Roads and Tracks WA 2007 edition.
Cheers....Lionel.

Bungarra,
Elachbutting is nice but has become civilised with pine logs etc.
Go to
Places in EO and check out
Trough Well.
Not that much further, just out of
Westonia.
My favourite place.
When are you going?

Have you had a look at
Mount Elvire Station? A bit north of
Southern Cross but not all bad.
Goongarrie is great but not as isolated as Mt Elvire.

Bungarra, there is lots of
places out there in the Yilgarn region... you just got to get out there and explore and get off the beaten road/tracks.
And ya will get that pretty thing scratched

I am aware of that thanks Rod that is why I asked members for some of their knowledge.............
over the years all my vehicles have got scratched in many out of the way
places..the current one is new and may look shiny but it already has done 7,000 of its 11,000 kms off road....and that doesnt mean just off bitumen
cheers
