Signman,
I think that you can
camp just about any where on
Stockton Beach.
Most
camp at the southern end near the lakes and trees or just behind the
sand dunes also on the southern end of
the beach.

Having camped up there a few times, stay
well away from the southern end near the Lavis Lane access as the "ferals"
camp around there and ride their quaddies and 4wds' etc all night, you can't do much about it when a single vehicle especially as they are half tanked.
I did hear that since the last permit change that
camping in the bush along the Lavis Lane entrance was now not allowed so things may have changed as there isn't any 2wd accessible
camping except at the
carpark. Depends on how
well rules are enforced.
If you
camp back behind the frontal dunes you can avoid the worst of the wind if it kicks up.
Otherwise either
Stockton or Anna Bay for
camping.

Hi Signman,
When you get
the beach permit it'll show some shaded areas that are private property and therefore off limits.
Anywhere that's Worimi Conservation Lands and under National Parks control is good to go. Basically almost anywhere from about 1km south of the northern access down to the Sygna wreck.
If I had a scanner here at work I'd post an image of the map for you. (Hey, it will probably be on the NPWS website!)
All the information should be here:
Worimi Lands
Hope this helps,
Geoff

Hi Signman,
Had some more thoughts,
There's a heap of new fencing up around the northern end to keep people off what I now know to be privately held lands so be careful where you do drive now days.
Make sure everyone in your party has a current beach permit as now days you will get caught. Gone are the Port Stephens Council management days where they'd take the money if you where honest enough to pay it and you'd never see a
ranger.
If you or any of your party are going to fish make sure you have a current permit. (Those 13yo or over)
I've been fishing
Stockton Beach for over 40 years, started with my grandfather when I was old enough to hold a rod. In the preceeding 39 years I've never seen a fisheries inspector on
the beach!
In the last 6 months I've had my permit and catch checked 3 times by fisheries!
Fishing permits are available online through the NSW Fisheries website.
Hope all that helps,
Geoff

I generally
camp up near the anna bay end - few weeks back had two "people" drop in on me 9 PM - they were off there nuts drunk and had been smoking pot ( and offered me some --- which i declined) kept asking me if i had more people coming and what time .......
the next day at 10 am another guy stumbles into my
camp area drunk of is head - had his car bogged very bad -- a few of us helped him out - to which he then told us he will be driving back home to
Sydney now ???? WHAT THE HELL ???? if i had known that i would have left him there ... asked him what tire pressure -- he said why ??? normal road pressure ????
these 2 incidences have left me a little upset as i have had nothing but joy from there ......
If anyone from NPWS is perusing this
forum .... can you guys PLEASE get some random breath testing done on
the beach as this drunk person is not the first i have come accross -- some are that drunk they can not even walk .....
Now with that all said --- get on
the beach at anna bay -- drive for maybe 2 - 3 Km and choose a spot ..... take note of the high tide mark --- you need to
camp after the For dunes - and if you have a few adults you need your own
toilet which i am sure the NPWS randomly check ,...

I've always camped near the
water, near the Sygna (or whatever it's called) Anywheres good so long as the wind isn't too strong.

Camp there mmm about 6 times over the year i
camp up Anna Bay end just in behind the first row of dunes the biggest thing about
camping there is watch out for GLASS
The drunk d**khead 4wdrivers like to just leave there beer bottles all over the place aswell as there rubbish and up that end they drive alot faster its a 40kph speed limit im sure but i seen guys doing 80 or 90 kph im sure theres lots of people hurt every year and keep a eye on the weather then a southern change comes up the coast it not much fun but dont let the little things put you off if the weather is right its a beautiful place for a weekend
