Hi All,
In March last year we set off on a trip across to the west which went something like this:
Gold Coast, Charters Towers, Cairns, Atherton, Winton, Plenty Hwy, Alice, Mereenee Loop, The Rock, Great Central Hwy, Geraldton, Coral Bay, Broome, Cape Leveque, Gibb River Rd, Mitchell Falls, El Questro, Kununurra, The Tanami, Bungle Bungles, Alice, Oonadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Birdsville Races, Emerald, Lots & lots in between then Bargara (home).
It took 5 months and 16,000km (10,000 of dirt). The vehicle is a Discovery 2002 Td5 towing a Customline Camper (off road of course) in which neither missed a beat. We met some awesome people and had an excellent time.
Thanks to ExploreOz for all the info & thanks to the people in this forum who answered all of our pre trip questions :-)

If anyone wants to watch some short video's of our trip, the link is below. There are about 20 on the youtube site under 'TravelOz With Jason & Jodie #1 to #20. They start half way down the first page of our Youtube account.

Enjoy :-)

Jason. Sounds like that was a fun trip. Now you have to sit down and plan the next one :-). We did Australias longest shortcut last year but went back around the south of WA & SA before heading up in to the centre. Our trip this year will have to be shorter than last years (14000K 6 weeks). We will do Cairns to Alice via Normanton & Mt Isa across the Simpson and then back into the Simpson to do a loop before heading over to the Sunshine Coast and Home, about 9000k in 4weeks. Have fun & Cheers Tony

Nick - Then you might be able to Get Activ8 Satellite Broadband, like I use. Cost me nothing to install in outback areas that do not have access to broadband, maybe if you have not got broadband available you can get it installed free as well. You are committed to a 2 year plan for 29.95 a month. Could not go back to dial up. Cheers Tony
