Give one of the local electrical wholesalers a go.

Or a specialist lighting showroom.

I went to a well known Camping store today in Maroochydore in Qld, I was looking at lighting when one of the sales came over and after a short discussion said he would show me the best new lighting 12 volt Fluro he had ever seen... brand new in stock, he was right it was great, it had two tubes and a great reflector which threw a fantastic light. I forget the specs but the unit was really bright and impressive and looked like it would be prefect for the side of the van for a good outside light, it also came with a 3 metre cord.

I was at the point of buying when I asked about the replacement tubes!!!! the answer... well it didn't come no one in the store knew if they could get them, what they where other than they came from a bloke in Sydney who made them, in the end they said they may get be able to get in touch with im and get me an answer next week but.....they added we haven't had anyone come in asking for a replacement tube so they probably last ages.

Dave

Hi Shane I think the ARB lights are the same as versalite and I picked up a replacement globe from Snowys at Richmond rd.

I'm somewhat surprised the tubes in both fluros have blown.
How old are the lights?
I am also under the impression they are the same as the Versalite (and Piranha).

I have a Piranha version which is identical to the Verslite except for the colour which is red. You could try TJM (Piranha distributors)for a replacement tube.

My unit must be four years old and still on the same tube.
I admit I only use the light for three or four hours per night, but still have great life out of it.
It is fitted with a yellow filter which doesn't attract insects.

I also have an Evakool Torpedo fluro and this "lives" at the other end of the camper annex where insects are not around the food preparation area.

Both lights are very good and very economical on power requirements.

Haven't used the stupid gas light since converting to 12 volt lighting:-)
Hassle free.

thanks for replies all, the lights are 7 years old. Had them on on the week end and would you believe it both went with in an hour of each other.
one is always kept in the patrol as a road side light but the other is only used when we use the van.(not to often).
cheers all.

shane.

hi shane, ARB make great bullbars, roofracks and air lockers any thing else, they outsource from china and put there own name on it, save yourself some coin and get a 10 dollar cheapie from super-cheap it will do the same job and last just as long, every electrical or other component ive got from ARB has either S$#t it self or hasn't worked out of the box, even the ARB E-Z deflator is made os and rebaged

Sorry mate but thats just a plain stupid thing to say.I have 4 ARB adventure lights, two 6yrs old and two new ones.Have just replaced the tubes in the 6yr old ones, thats good value.
I originally bought a $10 cheapie and it broke first time I used it.
