Daintree is a must see a great place.... absolutely magic....

Black Mountain is a great site as well. And of course if you are heading from Daintree to Cook Town you have to stop at the Lions Den :)

On a trip from Cooktown across to the Daintree recently . We had left the van in Atherton and went sight seeing in the 4x4 using Atherton as a base.
We arrived at the lions den on a Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere was great in the pub and I had a beer and another and another and so on. It was too hard to pull myself away from the place and soon I was as legless as all the other patrons but the party still kept going I think it was about 1am sunday before we all started to look for a rock to crawl under to sleep , The funny thing was that I had never met any of the 20 or so people before and will probally never see them again . But all will remember our night at the Lions den

The Daintree is definitely one of the best spots on the planet. I grew up in Mossman just a stones throw to the south and have been back many times since. The only thing that amazes me is the expansion of human occupation from the south arm of the river through to Cape Trip through to the Upper Daintree......but still a top spot nonetheless.

The Daintree is truely superb, but see it now while you can. As Patrol 22 says, human expansion up there is incredible. And as the south gets dryer, there will be even more population pressure moving north.

Yes, I'd put Cradle Mtn - Lake St Clair NP on my list. (And there are others you could argue for, like the Tarkine.)

Hi Ron

We have not been far at all yet, but can boast from your list we have been to Black Mountains and the Daintree and just loved the whole area, The Apostles on the GOR, Tumby Bay which is the nicest of the wonderful Eyre Peninsular coastal towns, and of course Wave Rock in WA which is now a bit over touristized. There are many similar waves on rocks through WA and SA.

Kakadu coming up soon.

Tasmania and the Kimberley are the two tops on my have seen list.

As a Victorian (that is, where I live, not how old I am), I wouldn't rate The 12 Apostles as #1 in the state. Spectacular, but soooo touristy. Personally I would say Wilsons Prom or one of the jewels of the high country, such as Wonnangatta-Moroka section of the Alpine NP.

Tumby Bay....are you sure? You're not thinking of somewhere else are you?
Don't get me wrong....I love the place, but if you take away the (man made) town, it is just a very ordinary bay.

It wouldn't even make my top 100.
Would you mind telling us what it is about Tumby Bay that makes it no. 5 on your top 7 non man-made places in Australia?
Maybe I'm missing something.

Cheers
Glenn
