Hi all,
Some time ago there was a recommendation for caravan parks in
Darwin. I did a search but couldn't find what I was after, so could anyone share their experiences on the CV parks in
Darwin, planning to visit April 2010 with the
cook and 2 girls (13 & 9).
Thanks kindly
Rob

All very expensive and fairly
well booked out but I had a look at the
Oasis just recently and it's a very nice shady
Park but contact them and book a site ASAP before the next tourist season, 08 8983 1048

Thanks Doug,
I know they can get quite busy, I hope I haven't left it too late, 8 months out.

Hi Rob,
they all get very busy, but do you want to be close to town, or do you mind being a little further out, and how far? There are a number of options.
regards

You can also go to yellow.com.au and type in caravan parks,
Darwin, NT. Then in the left column; select
Darwin, and under region, again select
Darwin; that will give you all the caravan parks in the area. If you pick out a couple of likely ones from that, we can give you more info.

G'day Fred,
Not worried about a bit of a drive, comming from
Sydney you kind of get used to driving for a while to get anywhere.

Rob, We have just got back from our
Kimberley trip on Monday, spending 6 nights at the Big 4 Freespirit caravan
park, about 20 minutes from
Darwin. I have 3 kids and there are 3 pools, great amenities, jumping pillows for the kids, overall great for the kids and
well maintained
park. It cost me $39 a night for the 5 of us, that was also a powered site. There is also a restaurant and bar beside the main pool which is a great spot to relax after sightseeing all day and watch the kids in
the pool.
There number is 08 8935 0888 or there website www.freespiritresortdarwin.com.au
Hope this helps.
cheers,
Lance

Lee Point CP suited us nicely for a few days - though quite a few km out from the CBD, it's a quick enough drive in what passes for 'traffic' in
Darwin.
Google E
12°20'40.30"S
130°53'37.05"E
And that to and from route goes pretty close to the really big Casuarina shopping centre as I recall (with 3 women on board, you'll be going there anway :-o).

Lee Point CP would get my vote as
well. Located at the North end of
Darwin -nice spot. We stayed there for a week a while back. Then we lived in
Darwin for 7 years. I liked the northern suburbs and found they are close enough to anything you want to do in
Darwin. The closest one to the one major shopping centre - Casuarina shopping Centre. Closest to the best beach in town - Casuarina beach. (don't swim anywhere unless it is
the pool at the caravan
park)

Hi you could also try Lee Point caravan
park i stayed there a few years ago and would stay there again. It's not to far out of
Darwin and was very quiet.

Hi Rob,
We are just back from
Darwin and we stayed in the Howard Springs Big 4. It was very crowded (we were there mid to end Jun/early July. It does have an excellent large pool and spas and another small pool. It is about 28km out of town and was fairly quiet trafficwise but some very noisy people in the
camp kitchen at times. There is a
supermarket (expensive) down the road.
Personally, I'd be looking for recommendations for smaller parks but must have a decent pool.
You are going early in the season so shouldn't have trouble getting in.

The Freespirit (ex Palms)
park on the Stuart Highway is a good kid friendly
park with a pub! That would be my choice.
Cheers

Hi Rob,
If its budget accomodation you are looking for and if its only for a week or two you could join the Greyhound association and stay at the Greyhound track for about $50 per week.
Did this season before last . I personally didn't like it but I was staying for four months and working, but for a short time it would be ok.
You can join on arrival for about $10 per year. It is on the main road about 10 klms before
Darwin City but the Buses run past it all the time. (Near Berrima
Military Barracks)
There is also the showground, ...

Thanks Doug,
That's a great website! I always like to get a variety of opinions. The main thing is if the

Hi Rob,
Looks like everyone has some great suggestions, I have another one we went to the NT several years ago, we didn't actually stay in
darwin we staye dat a tourist
Park at Berry Springs thi is the link
http://www.lakesresortcaravanpark.com.au/index.html
This
park had plenty of room, have a giant waterslide which can be used all day, we stayed there for 5 days and the waterslide was great amusement for our kids. we travelled to
Darwin several times it was about 30 minutes away. there is quite a few things to do around Berry Springs, the nature
park was excellent for a swim and Howard Springs.
Good Luck! Have a great Holiday

Out of town the Berry Springs
park is great. While living in
Darwin we would go and stay at this
park just for the
water slides with the kids. And FFOCamping is right - there are a lot of fun tourist things to do around that area. The location is very close to the back door of
Litchfield National park if you don't mind dirt road and river crossings. (Small
river crossing about 1 ft deep)
