Hi all,
Is there an upgrade for the copilot 7 software for the PDA. There is a version 8 for the laptop.

I'm finding that the maps are over 2 years out of date and the copilot website is as clear as mud.
Also can I run either shonky or ozi in conjunction with copilot or do either shonky or ozi have town street maps or only topo.

Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave
I have 2 ASUS pda's one running copilot and ozi the other Destinator and ozi.
I usually run both Destinator on one and ozi on the other.

Just had a quick look at the copilot site http://www.travroute.com.au/

Go to the main drop down menu select copilot upgrades
CoPilot Live Pocket PC V7 full upgrade $169.00 + $12.00 P&H

I have not upgraded copilot myself but you would be best to contact them
to make sure you will get the correct upgrade for your device.

Yeah we have seen the site and from what we can gather, it is still the same 2 yo version that I have.

I may just buy the tom tom or navman and replace the copilot.
Which is better?

Dave,

CoPilot V7 is the latest version for pockat PC's. (PDA's)
CoPilot V10 is the latest version for a Laptop.

To run another application such as Ozi at the same time as CoPilot you may need Franson's GPSGate software which allows multiple applications to share the one GPS input.
Each application uses its own map data and CoPilot cannot use an "external" map reference data.

I run Ozi and CoPilot on my PDA and have each app assigned to a specific hardware button. Unlike laptops, either application will run fullscreen on the PDA and you need a means of flipping between one and the other after starting each.

I don't use CoPilot all that much anymore as I also have a Tomtom Go 720 which I find is better than CoPilot and the maps are more up to date. In fact map updates are continually available online, each time Tomtom is connected to a Laptop or PC.

Bill.

Dont know about the PDA version of Copilot Live but I have been told from

the parent company in USA that the laptop version is no longer being supported in

Australia.

I have ver 8 and 11 is out in the USA and when I mailed them to see when it

would be out in Aus they said NEVER we no longer support the Australian.

version.. At the price i wouldnt bother .

G'day Graham,

I have Co-Pilot 10 and it has many erroneous or missing roads. I went to the website to see if I could download and update and found out that they do not support online updates. This is a great thing to find out AFTER you have shelled out a lot of money for a product.

Like you, I contacted the company only to be told that they were not continuing with support for Oz. I got the s**ts and asked them for a pro-rata refund as the program was becoming more and more useless as time goes by. They just laughed.

So now I simply make it my mission in life to bad-mouth their product to anyone who takes the trouble to ask about it. There isn't any more I can do.

Someone will step in and make a good laptop based product. It's just a matter of time.

Cheers

Hi I have Copilot 6 running on a PDA- I didn't see upgrading to 7 was worth it given the trobles with it initially at least
I would not spend any more money on it if I was you as I suspect the support for Australia is gone.

It is a pity as it is a good product excpet the maps are way out of date and it does make some strange route decisions. (eg I wanted to go to Moruya from Canberra - the quickest way is via Batemans bay - copilot sent me via dirt roads through Captains flat - great drive though.

I also have oziexplorer on my PDA and i cna run bot at the same time. To do this I had to buy some additional software - very cheap (around $15 from memory)
It is called Franson GpsGate - you can buy it over the NET.

I will keep running CP6 but next upgrade will be something else like the VMS unit.
