hi
we have a 30' caravan that we pull with a f250
looking at travelling from
gundagai nsw down to around
bega or
batemans bay,
am basically after the flattest route, dont really want to drag the van through the mountains or up a heap of steep hills, also any cheap caravans through that way that take a big rig and dogs
thanks

The Great Divide gets down to 165 m west of
Townsville. You could try that route.

no, dont want to go through, want to go around, but being unsure of the terrain wanted to check if there any route that would be easier and flatter than another.

Hi Laser1,
Cant help you re caravan parks but there are publications that list dog friendly parks.
There really aren't any easy options for where you want to go! The roads via Macquarie Pass, Kangaroo Valley, Clyde Mtn (Kings H'way) and Brown Mtn (Snowy Mtns Hway) all have steep winding sections.
Best options would be to take the Hume in towards
Sydney and then down the coast, or to go to
Bombala via
Canberra and
Cooma then take the Imlay(?) road that heads east from Rockton about 30km south of
Bombala. That road is still steepish but has been built for logging trucks so its a good run.

Hi Laser1. The flattest route would be to come back up the Hume Highway to Picton. Take the Picton Rd across to Mt Ousley, which is above
Wollongong. You will then come down Mt Ousley, you can bypass
Wollongong if you wish, although there are heaps to see and do if you want to base there for a couple of days,(Grand Pacific Drive/Bridge. Illawarra Fly. Port Kembla Steel Works.
Kiama and it's
Blowhole) and continue down the Princes Hway to Nowra,
Ulladulla,
Batemans Bay and
Bega. That way all the steep bits are mainly downhill. As you can tell,I'm a local but can't tell you much about dogfriendly C'van Parks. Regards,Bob.
