Which direction around Tassie??

I agree, we copped it at Strahan. Make sure you have minimum 3 weeks there. We made the mistake of looking at the map and saying "yep, two weeks no worries."
We really want to go back as we only completed the west and central areas of taz. Beautiful place.
We're in your boat as well, long way from W.A.
Make sure you do the boat tour from Strahan out to hell's gate and Sarah island (penal colony) Go to the theatrical production re the colonization as well. Maybe even give the Montezuma falls track for a bit of a 4x4 challenge. There were a couple of bog holes there back in 2000 but don't know the condition of them now.

Have a great trip and make sure you book a cabin on the Spirit of Tasmania unless you going the tazzie tiger.

No it doesn't matter as long as you understand that the top of every reputable map is always north
