It's not the closest but one of the best I've stayed in anywhere -
Adelaide Shores at
West Beach.

I think the closest one is the
Adelaide Caravan
Park at Hackney, about 1 km from the Hilton.

The closest is in hackney about a 3.5 km walk to the centre
Caravan Park
Victoria Square is usually busy because of The Tour Down Under

Thanks Skip,
Yes that is what I am there for....... will be working and I prefer to
camp than stay in hotels.... if there was a
rest area down the road I would just sleep on my swag :)

If i keep reading to the bottom of this post its going to be a caravan
park in
Melbourne....the distance from the same caravan
park to the hilton started out at 1klm.... now its 3.5...lol
Glenelg might be a better
park tho' i reckon...short a short trip to the city no longer than 25mins? ...remember we are not a
Sydney.
bring those three, err four Jim Beam girls with you....and i'll be there too

I can vouch for them, when I first moved to
Adelaide they were very helpful regarding info and directions. The place is very nice too.

Hi
This information is correct.
Hackney, on (i think)
richmond st is the closest. Hotel on the corner serves good food. 2 kays to city centre. lots of housing/commision type housing, so some dubious types live in the area. Do NOT cut across the parklands after or near dark by yourself. I cannot stress this enough! Middle of the day ok, after dark you want three males together if you are to walk.
levi
park is nice, still very close but a bit to far to walk each morning, a bus does stop out the front though and I'm guessing it is a "go zone" so it will run every 15 minutes. This is what I would choose.
Oh, if you want the best Indian curry in Australia go to the Jasmin in Hindmarsh Square :-)
Any other question feel free to ask.
Cheers Lyndon
Ps. the cetral market in town is a must visit, saturday morning is best but is open other hours.

Thanks Lyndon,
Shame I will not be able to get to the markets this trip. It is such a rushed trip this one but will remember it for next year maybe.
But thanks...... Will prob do levi if it has buses... Will call them tomorow....
I have been searching curry houses all over aus to find an indian dish a friend once made before he passed away so
young. I will be sure to check it out
Cheers

"the best Indian curry in Australia go to the Jasmin in Hindmarsh Square". You must be a serious curry lover and traveller to have been to every curry restaurant in Australia to make that call

The Raj on Taj isn't too bad either, just south parklands.

Hi there
Recently stayed at Windsor Gardens Caravan
Park on banks of Torrens River about 8km nth of city. Bus or fast Obahn access. It is a small
park clean, quiet and tidy. Not too many dollars about $22pn for powered site but might be more in peak
Good luck

The Caravan nearest to the CBD, IS the one at Hackney.
It is about a 20 minute walk to the Hilton.
Enjoy
