G'day All

We are planning a trip to Cape York ex Canberra. Collarenebri fits nicely in the daily trip distance planning, but sundry googling, google earthing, and searching on this site doesn't turn up any listed camping spots (caravan + campertrailer).

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks
John

John,

Try MMing member John T in Tamworth as I am sure he will know some camping spots out that way due to his work.

Thanks Nutta

I found the toilet block when searching on google earth. I think it's diagonally opposite the only pub, which could be a good or bad thing? Probably more than one public toilet block in the town though.

stopped into this town when travelling through last year with 2 little kids. Found a park (playing park) near the local club in town which also had a toilet block. Had to get a key from the barman at the club to enter the park so the kids could have a play. Had to lock it upon leaving and return the key.

Not sure if there is any real facilities their for camping at overnight other than the side of a road.

Hi John,

As Sir Kev has already pointed out - I sometimes head out that way with work. To the best of my knowledge, there is no c/van park at Colly but there are a few reserves on the road heading towards Moree - not too far from the town but far enough. Obviously no facilities but you should be able to camp right next to the Barwon River. A quick talk with the local Police should get you headed the right way. Safe trip

Cheers

olice should point you to the right places.

Good luck and a safe trip

We have stayed overnight on the bank of the Barwon River that passes through the town. There are no facilities, and you are close to the highway.

Just drive through the village, across the bridge heading towards Moree and you will see a large cleared area on your right.

There are a couple of spots just off the road one or two clicks further on in amongst the trees.

You will be lucky to find the copper at home, these country cops are seldon in their town nowadays, rather they work them out of the larger centres that are nearby.
