you would think so but no area on the unit also.......the battery slides sideways onto the base of the handset and has four silver flat pieces of metal on the rear of the battery for when it supposedly sits in a desk charger. The pictured battery in the manual shows a hole (area) in the side of the battery for trickle charger, but on the actual battery that was supplied with the....no holes....
I naturally purchased the unit from a supplier on ebay for what i thought was a good price but i guess that i will now find out why it was so good........

It sounds like it is made for a desktop charger,have you tried contacting the seller on Ebay,if they sell a few of them they might know the product and be able to help you out, if they are not willing to help in anyway ,that's what feedback is for, and they should know that. Also if you google the uniden model you have you might get a better description of it, good luck with it.
