Hi , Next week I will be traveling to Alice Springs with a Jayco Campertrailer in tow.
I've seen a lot of reports regarding flooding so wondering what would be the best way to get there ?

Thxs Don

If you intend staying on the black top, and want to get there in a hurry, go via Dubbo, Broken Hill, Port Augusta and straight up the middle.
If your not in a hurry, there is lots to see and do going that way, just search some of the towns on that route on this site. You'll be surprised what you'll find.

Not sure what you mean/want by best way.

Lots of ways to get there, depends on what you want.

Fred.

Hi Don

Monitor NT roads on their website. I found it only had major routes so does not help for very minor access roads, but it gives you an idea. Phoning the provided number just gave and automated read out same as website.

NT road reports

I had a look at the website again, and it seems more comprehensive than when i tried using it in 2008.

According to the B.O.M we are expecting a bit of rain this week in Alice, therefore access may become restricted in some areas. As of last weekend most of the main access tracks are open, boggy hole, owen springs, part of trephina gorge rd and palm valley still remain closed. There are still some great places to see and camp.

Personaly, Id say South but South South East would be more scenic....but that might be the long way if your coming from the North.....in that case I would suggest North?????????

Sydney - Broken Hill.
Broken Hill - Peterborough - Pt Augusta and keep driving north. Blacktop ALL the way. As for flooding along that route, not aware of any at the moment, sufficient to interupt your journey. You can obviously expect the obligatory road works, Newell Highway etc.
