Brrr, getting cold around the country, so it must be time for those southerners to head north again. :)

Is there any travellers (caravaners, camper trailers, buses/unimogs/combi vans etc) heading south or is it just too damn cold?

Any suggestions to where to spend the Qld school holidays leaving from Whitsundays (central coastal qld)? Looking for some more kilometres on the Pajero, maybe a quick reconnaisance to Cape York.

Andrew,
Going up to 'the tip' early/mid July, then back to Cairns, over to Kakadu, Kimberley and staying up in the top end till the end of winter.

Andrew,

I am spending the first two weeks of July on the Darling, then to the tip of the Cape until about the end of july. I will be taking the ferry to Thursday Island; back to Cairns for a good look at the reef; and the rest of August wandering around outback Queensland. After that it is back home and back to work.

Regards,
Bob

Hi Andrew,

We havent seen winter yet as we came north (from South coast NSW) in Mid April and are currently in Chillagoe which isnt cold at all. Had aircon going in van all day in Cooktown last week - to us it was hot and humid, to the locals it was lovely and cool.

Haven't been out of shorts and t-shirts except for a few nights around the campfire around Clermont.

We have to go home early July so it will be a rude shock to have cold nights suddenly. Our home town has been very wet, cold and miserable from all reports and the family dont have much sympathy when we complain about the humidity, heat etc!! lol

cheers,
Heather

We're off in about ten days. From Melbourne to Newcastle to team up with others, then up to Gunnedah to spend the night at an ald Army mates farm. Next night at Moonie, then Theodore, a great free stop, next to St. Lawrence, a great stop too. Then we'll roll into Home Hill, turn right, and go and prop at Groper Creek for the worst of the Southern Winter. Back home in Sep. in time to play bowls !!!Cheers All.
