Hi
We are off to Tasmania in January for 7 nights with our Jayco Outback along with a 7yr old boy & 4yr old girl.

We are looking for gorgeous campsites and any suggestions of what to do and where to go.

Looking forward to your replies.

Supercamper!

We live in the northeast of Tassie and have spent most of our childhoods exploring this area and further down the east coast. There is a huge array of camping areas along this coast and most are beautiful. We are currently touring qld in our jayco flamingo outback and it has made us really appreciate where we live in Tassie. We have a 2 year old son and spend a lot of January camping etc. If you want to send us an email closer to the time we can probably show you some areas to get you started. One of our favourite spots is near our shack at a place called Eddystone Point and there is a lot of speccy coastline right down the eastcoast if that's the sort of thing you are into. Or if you are looking for one spot to camp for this 7 days Bruny Island on the south east coast is a brilliant spot too.

Happy to answer any questions we can.

Need more info on where you intend to go. 7 nights won't get you far..

Bay Of Fires area on the east coast would be your best bet wth the kids.

A note of caution, I would be making bookings ahead wherever you are going because January is a very busy month for camping and I don't think it would easy to just blow in and get a site.

The suggestion about Bruny Island is excellent - it is very beautiful and could easily soak up your 7 nights by itself.

Happy travelling, John

Pretty expensive to get the van over there though. A mate of mine was over there for easter, never go again because of the cost.
Definitely book ahead for any C/P in Tassie during Jan /Feb.
We love our more settled weather over here so make the most of it while we can.

Policeman's point is a great spot. Just below the Bay of Fires.

Have fun

Hi Supercamper,

We LOVED Tassie, so did our girls 8 & 10, our favourite free camps included - North East Park at Scotsdale, Diane's Basin (near St Helen's from Memory), Cosy Corner Nth, the showgrounds at Beaconsfield are a good camp - because you can buy a 3 way family pass ($115) gets you into Beaconsfield Mine (good education for the kids, our girls loved it), Seahorse world and Platypus house!!

Check out our website http://www.travelingoz.webs.com go back through the blogs till you get to Tassie.

Sheffield was a great place especially all the mural's, Latrobe was very interesting - go visit Reliquare - very unusual store, Great honey tasting at Chudleigh, seafood at Stanley - not too mention The Nut!!, Sisters beach is great - perhaps you should stay for 7 weeks!! LOL.

Cheers
Caz

Hi Rachel,

Yes we had an AWESOME time!!! we have no regrets (except for having to stop earlier than anticipated, however the entire family has to be happy!!).

Matt and I are planning for the next trip in about 10 -15 yrs, when the kids are all off our hands.

Enjoy Tassie.

Regards
Caz
