Hello all, We are looking at taking the Labrador with us on a trip next year to Karijini. Have contacted the Shire of Ashburton re kennels so he has his holiday booked at
Tom Price. Going up we will stay at
Meekatharra CP which allows dogs, but coming back we are looking at somewhere around
Carnarvon to
free camp with him. He will be on a lead at all times as we are aware of the dangers with baits especially with him being a Labrador as he will eat anything that is not nailed down. Have the plastic bags for the poo patrol etc.
Any sugestions?
Regards
Mark

Hi Mark
If you dont mind a bit of a drive into
Carnarvon. I would suggest the Quobba
Blowholes. There are lots of nice (some sheltered) spots right on
the beach. There are also lots of huts there that are privately owned that families use during the holdiays etc which can provide some shelter. Very nice spot, telstra reception possible near the lighthouse, great swimming and snorkelling. I think it was $5 per night, but we didnt have to pay as the caretaker had knocked off for the season. Drop loos,
dump point and rubish dump.
Another one would be New Beach, south of
Carnarvon. Not much shelter, but lots of level ground right near the
water. Firepits,
dump point,
bins and some firewood. This
camp was totally free. Scratchy Telstra reception.
Im not 100% sure if they are designated dog friendly, however we stayed at both for a few weeks and saw plenty of dogs enjoying their life camped under caravans.
Both are in the camps 5 book. Both very nice spots. We found
the blowholes very windy tho, but that seems to be a way of life over here this time of the year.
have fun mate.

You can
free camp at Bush Bay / new beach. It extends south of
carnarvon about 50ks. Tracks, in good condtion, take you almost all the way into
carnarvon and come out near the rifle range.
Good road, easy drive. The
camp spots are great of the weather is good.

Hi ray
i went to
camp there last month but they have closed it for
camping, it is now just a
day use area.
We went into to visitor info centre and there were even big notices on the billboard advising it has been closed off to campers.
