Hello
Just joined and am heading off first campervan trip and first trip with small dog and wondered if anyone knew of any
places in the above areas of WA that would welcome (or even just tolerate) having a dog at their premises (our accommodation is fine, just for going out day/nights). I know of a few in
Perth and
Fremantle just by local knowledge, but can't find anything online for other areas. Any pointers would be welcome.
Many thanks
Mags

Buy yourself a copy of Holidaying With Dogs - lots of info in there.
Herewith a great link for travellers with dogs. Cut and paste it in your browser.

Of course you can also Google "Pet friendly caravan parks..........." and include your destination name.
Good luck
George

Hi
And thanks for the super-quick reply!! I've got all the dog-friendly accommodation booked no problems but just wondered if there were al fresco cafes/bars, etc, we could take our dog to as
well. Will
check out the website.
Thanks again.

Hi Mags
Dogs are not permitted in an eating or drinking area or even a grocery store by health regulations, with exceptions for guide dogs for blind or deaf people.

Hello and thanks for quick replies again
I was going to contact the tourist office; I know that cafes round
Perth and
Fremantle (and other
places) allow you to sit outside with dogs (they even provide water bowls and doggie treat for them!) so just wondered if there was local knowledge of this down outh. Will
check with the tourist people though.
Many thanks again for all your help

The last thing I need is dogs allowed in restaurants. Its bad enough you have them in outside seats. And then the owners stick them in your face and ask if you want to pat them. Yuk.

Reminds me of a time we were in South Africa and having dinner at night with some friends who were pretty high class. After dinner the plates were collected up and put on the floor for their two large Ridgebacks to lick. After they had finished the maid came along and picked up the plates, whiped them with a tea towel and put them back in the China Cabinet.

Hi again
I don't want them actually in the restaurants; outside at al fresco areas. I keep my dog away from people and it sits quietly. I never foist my dog upon any person or other dog. I just saw a link to cafe-friendly
places in
Sydney,
Adelaide and
Melbourne and thought there might be some links to
places in WA. I must confess to having more trouble with people's kids being "in your face"; at least dogs have to stay on a lead!!
Thanks again for responses.

I agree about the kids as
well. Why cant people control them. At least you are allowed to put a lead on a dog. Maybe the parents should be tied up instead. I am a grand parent and do a share of minding the children. But I am not every child's grand parent nor their babysitter while they go to the loo or outside for a smoke.
Still no dogs at the table please. Same as at
home. When we had one (a sheltie) she stayed
home and ate and slept outside. And yes she did get exercised and played with a lot. How could you resist her. But she was not an equal and never ate at the table, albeit on the floor.

A friend of
mine has a caravan park, he says he would rather people brought their dogs with them & left their kids at
home.
He said at least most people make an effort to train their dogs!

We were staying in a caravan park in
Kununurra in 2009. We had to dump our tent once. A dog bleep ed on it. I am guessing it was the little white fluffy one from the van next door that was found running around the next morning with a lead trailing behind. No proof though. But . . . . It only takes one to stuff it all up. And you lot wonder why I am so anti dogs. So much for them to be tied up.
I wonder how many wash the dogs mouth out after it cleans itself and before it licks your face. !!!!!! And then you expect strangers to not complain when they do the same to them.
And don't worry - I amout of here. Its not worth my time.

I must agree that dogs should not be allowed where food is sold or consumed but most dogs are
well behaved BUT I think it would be a good idea if supermarkets and shopping centres had KID FREE DAYS where a person could do their shopping without screaming kids running all over the place out of control.
I would also like to ask how often shopping trolleys get cleaned? I disway my wife from putting food without a bag in a trolley as quite often people put kids in the trolley without too much thought of hygiene

We were all kids once; some of us grow up to be responsible adults and others just get bigger & older. I'm pretty sure none of us were dogs though! Surely one can manage a meal or coffee in public without having to take one's pet?
