New To The Site, & New to Touring in general.
My Wife and I have camped but not seriously travelled we have brought a New Navara and done some upgrades,
Suspension, diff lock,
snorkel,winch, bullbar.
Come January we are planning to go from
Tamworth to
Port Fairy, all the way down the coast road , I am keen to fish at every chance I get and the wife is keen to explore at all her opportunities. If any of you could give suggestions on
places to visit or things to see and enjoy. My Wife and I are both 32 and enjoy photography, we are keen to tackle the adventurous Australia, there will be nothing towed on our trip and no kids with us.
Please help with some ideas to make this a trip that gets the wife hooked on
camping throughout our great country.

Hi
Not really clear what you are looking for (no indication that you are looking for serious offroad but have heavy duty offroad improvements) but we travelled the along the coast on way home from "the Top" last year. Off the top of my head once you hit victoria you have Croajigalong (spelling) national
park,
Lakes entrance and the gippsland lakes area, ninety mile beach, Wilsons Promontory national
park and keep going. I live in South Gippsland and on my recent short holiday I spent 4 days going elsewhere in Victoria. Its only then you realise just how lucky we are and what we have on our doorstep that we take for granted!!!

I forgot to add, You are driving a long way to see the Great ocean Road. You mught see some good coast line to match it on the way that is not as
well promoted but just as good!!!

We are planning to see as much of the coastline as possible hence going all the way down the coast road. Serious off road is not out of the question, just trying to get some ideas at this stage.

Hi Guy,
You'll have a blast no matter you do along there.
We've just long got home from spending some time from
Adelaide to
Geelong.
Have a look
Here, it may give some ideas.
I'm not a fisherman, but I can see the attraction with the area along that coast line.
Hope this helps. Pictures can tell more than word can explain at times.
I'm sure your wife will love it.
Port Fairy is a beautiful little town.
Take care and safe travels

No worries, Our pleasure.
We wish we had longer, unfortunately, time was our enemy.
As Val has said below, "you could spend a year doing that trip"
We traveled it in about a week, far too short a time frame to really enjoy it, one day we will return and take our time.
Take care and take your time
Cheers

Along the drive I would recommend dropping into
Mallacoota it is a great place to spend a few days or weeks even......and take the opportunity to explore the
Croajingolong NP while you are in the area.

Thats a big question you have asked - how long are you going for? Here are some suggestions. Its not an inclusive list because there are just heaps of great coastal
places that you could spend a year doing that trip.
Assuming you are going down the Oxley H'way there is the area around
Laurieton including the Crowdy Bay NP which takes in
Diamond Head which is good for rock fishing.
Further south is the Myall Lakes NP and I think there is good beach fishing there.
South of
Sydney the Princess Highway south of
Stanwell Park is very spectacular.
Further south suggest Jervis bay and the Beecroft Peninsula, Merry Beach, Central Tilba (where there are a lot of tracks in the forests) and
Mystery Bay. Then
Tathra, Merrimbula and down to Twofold Bay around Eden, and the Ben Boyd NP which takes in
Green Cape.
Others have covered Vic a bit, one area not mentioned is
Point Hicks.
But even after you have seen all that I think you will still find the GOR pretty amazing.
Cheers,
Val.

Val Thanks for the list, we are at the early stages of planning and getting an idea of where to stop and stay and where to skip thanks again.
