Hi all, I have a recently superceded BT 50 fitted with an ARB canopy.
The canopy seals out dust fine but a lot gets in through the sides and bottom of the tail gate.
I've put some rubber strips along each side of the tail gate but am still getting a lot of dust in along the bottom of the tail gate.
Has anyone got any good ideas about how to do this better?
Many thanks, Gary M.

Single sided 25mm x 7mm foam or neoprene tape from Clark Rubber carefully laid around the bottom so that it picks up the inner lip of the tailgate. Also open the front sliding window 5-10 cm when driving. This will pressure the canopy and tub area.

Cheers Mick

I had a 1990 version of the same setup - the only way in my view is to approach it from the 'pressurised air' method - happily, all window and tailgate sealing issues can then be forgotten - I made a roofline airscoop for the canopy out of large poly irrigation fittings, to catch the airflow - kept all the dust out on bush trips and provided fresh air for the family hound on local trips. Fancy commercial scoops are available here and there - got one on the top of my offroad van.

Gary,

Don't bother trying to seal the gaps.
Simply install an ARB vent on the roof at the front or rear of the canopy.

I leave mine down around town and on the bitumen, but when heading bush, simply flip up the vent and it will pressurize the canopy area and keep almost all dust out.

I have a minor amount of dust along the rear under the tailgate but this is easily wiped off.

The vents are self installable if you are handy with tools, or ARB can do it for you.
Easily to follow instuctions are included with the kit. I used a bit of clear silicon around the bottom of the vent when installing to eliminate any chance of water entering when raining.

I installed my vent at the front of the canopy roof and it sits level with the leading roof rack. In this posision, it is always in the airstream regardless what I have in the roof rack basket when travelling.

Sandman

I conned my brother in law into putting the slim line arb vent on my pod last week. Yeh I know I didn't want to buy from ARB, but it was the only place I could get one that was suitable.

I haven't tried it on dirt yet, but the young lady in the shop seem to know her stuff and said (like others on this site) that one vent is usually more than sufficient to pressurise the pod.

I'll see how it goes.

There is a fella who sells rubber seals for the BT50 on Ebay.

But probably cheaper to buy from Clark Rubber.
