Looks like a good time to do the trip. Almost all roads are open. Showers through some of the western NSW area around the end of the week but you don't get dirty tyres on dry roads,do you. Have fun. You have organised good variety into your plan.
Cheers,
Kevin

The hot baths at Pilliga is worth a rest stop. Very little shade in the camping area, but a roof over the pool.

Nindigully Pub just in Qld is worth a stop as well.

Hi Edward,
Will be on the same track at the same time but heading in the opposite direction.
If you see a white Pajero towing an A'van Cruisliner with Exploroz spare wheel cover, give us a shout!!

Thank you for the replies. It looks like the only water problem might be the east track north out of Menindee. But the west is okay. Will probably stick to the lesser used west track all the way to Bourke. Time restrictions will dictate the route back from Burren Junction but Pilliga is definitely on my map ! Thanks Tony ! Will keep a lookout for a white Pajero carrying a Dave and Hazel but my old grey 'Cruiser don't stand out much. Do many people use the U H F to chat or make contact ? Discuss camps and so on ?

If you have an iphone/ipad/android phone check out wiki camps
We used it the whole trip along the Darling the last 2 weeks.
Pooncarie camp was good right on the banks. The road from there to Menindee was in very good condition
We travelled the west road up from Wilcannia - Tilpa pub worth a stop, we stayed Tilpa and Louth. Didn't stop at Louth pub, but looks renovated, and free camping over the bridge maybe.
Bourke, we stayed in the town caravan park as we have a dog with us, but there is free camping in Bourke North and another Caravan Park which is meant to be very nice.
4 mile Camp ground at Brewarrina was good also.
We didn't pass too many people along the trip.
Any other info you want let me know.

Hello Billy
Good show ! ! I'll be looking for a Hi Lux at the camp grounds. I'll try to arrive well before dark. Bring yourself some firewood cause theres never any there and the surrounding bush has been stripped. You'll pick me for a grey 'Cruiser with a heavy duty roof rack. Hope to see you there.

great camping about 40 km west of wilcannia on the river(pardoo-darling np), 100km east of bourke is trilby station which is a fantastic sheep station with isolated sites on the river and billabong.Roads were all in great condition 2 weeks ago.
