I have just bought a new 2012 D-max and I was looking for any ideas as to where to install a
UHF radio. The radio I have is a GME TX4400. It is not a slim line radio. I am considering a roof console.
Any ideas are welcome. I have not ruled out buying a new slimline radio.
Thanks,
Mark.

Mate have a look at the size of some of the new radios......then consider if installing your old lump is just too much fiddle.
cheers

Mark,
You might like to check out the GME TX3520 or TX3540 models.
The TX3520 has a remote head, so you can mount the radio itself up under the dash, out of the way and the remote head support bracket can be fixed to a spot on the centre console with silicon. This is what I did on my Colorado.
I used a right angled bracket I bought from bunnings and used existing bolts and nuts on the firewall to mount both the radio and a Redarc brake controller.
Likewise the TX3540 can be mounted out of the way and controlled by the microphone head with built-in speaker, etc.
Buying a new transceiver would be a much cheaper option than buying and installing an overhead console, unless you need the overhead console for other functions as
well.

Not sure about the D-Max but in our
Ranger and Landcruiser the radios are mounted in the center console inside the storage bin between the
seat...... you know the one with the lift up lid.
That way they are out of sight and doesn't clutter up the dash..... unless you want everyone to see it.

I have a GME TX 3510W in our new D.Max (2012 LS-T) and I used double sides tape and struck it to the side of the centre console on the drivers side also used the dst for the mic which is on the passenger side. The wireless button on the steering wheel and the remote mic up on the A pillar, works great, by using the double sided tape I can shift it to some where else later if I won't to.

I've ordered a Uniden UH7760 today where everything including the speaker is in the microphone. Will see how it goes.
