Ok the above is my list of things I want in a campsite around the Coffs area or anywhere between there and Brisbane. We are farmstaying 1/2 an hour inland from Evans Head for a week in Dec/Jan and then would like to camp for up to a week after that within a few hours drive (when I say few - I mean 4 to 5). I'd like to check out Coffs Harbour if there's anywhere near there but am open to suggestions. We've stayed at a few privately run campgrounds around SE QLD (not caravan parks - just private land that has been opened up for campers - great alternative to the bush camping) Places like Neurum Creek, Gordon Country, Flanagans REserve, Darlington Park to name a few. So if anyone has any ideas for either bush camping or something close to it - i'd love to hear your suggestions. We're in an X-Trail and the inlaws are towing an off-road van with their old Landcruiser. Cheers :)

Touchy key board sorry, Nymboida Canoe Centre is a great spot. We stayed there for a week last Christmas Holidays. We also did the Old Glen Innis Road loop, that was a nice day out.
Cheers

Would cross Darlo off your list as it is neither cheap nor allows fires or dogs. You would have to book 12 months in advance to get a spot in Dec/Jan.

Contact NSW State Forests (Grafton or Glenn Innes) they will have places which will permit all of the above. Dalmorton or Mann River on the old Grafton Glenn Innes Rd, Platapus Flat on the Nymboida River at the back of Dorrigo (not sure if it is in a Park).
Even try NSW National Parks at Dorrigo, though they won't allow dogs in the National Park, as local residents they will know of places within state forests which will permit dogs and fires. There are also numerous places inland from Grafton on the Clarence River, though they are on cattle farms and there will be a charge.

Platypus flat possibly not the best with a van. There *might* be space but can't be guaranteed. Most of it is tent only.

Have a look here. The Clarence Gorge is a family run place with plenty of riverside camping and catch-and-release fishing. They are pet friendly and firewood is supplied for a cooking fire provided there are no fire bans in place.

Wherever you go please be aware that fire bans are likely at this time of year - that means NO fires.

Cheers,

Yep, the Gorge sounds like your kind of spot, and although fire bans could happen, with the bit of rain about, I think you will be OK..

You may need to ring the owners and find out availability at that time of year...but as it's a very big area, you should be OK as well..

If you can handle is far inland as Glen Innes I would give a plug for my good mate Steve Wood at Bullock Mountain, 02 67324898
With over 2000 acres and 7km. of river frontage there is good fishing for yellowbelly and big redfin, catch and release policy for Murray cod. Plenty of yabbies too.
Great camp spots along the river or closer to the homestead, sapphire fossicking and horse riding. Plenty of wildlife to see, deer, goats and kangaroo. Prolific birdlife.
