Meat Works Campsite - QLD

The "Meatworks" is one of 5 camping zones on Gangalidda and Garawa Native Title lands where a permit is required. A permit can be applied for online (immediate application) or in person at the Burketown Visitor Centre.At the "Meatworks" there are many designated sites spread along the sand banks of the Arthur River, located just a few kilometres northeast of town. All sites are easily accessible by all vehicles, but still secluded. Currently (Oct '25) there are 9 numbered sites from site 11, to site 19 available for booking. Please refer to the booking page for specific details and availability. The Albert River Campsites are restricted to fully self-contained off road caravans. Camper trailers and non self-contained units without toilets will not be granted permits or access.Apply for fishing and camping permit online. First Night : $35 per vehicle Additional Night: $25 per vehicle to a maximum of 30 nights Online application is immediate.Controlled dogs are permitted. Campfires are permitted. No firearms. Be aware that estuarine crocodiles inhabit all waters in the Gulf including Arthur River. Fishing permits are also required. Apply online.
