The logical answer is :-
In front of your internet device.
Maybe the question should be
What is the location shown in this picture, which may also give my current location ?
LOL.

Good point, Ron. But it wouldn't give my current location (Camden), which is 73km as the crow flies and some 150km by road from the location shown in the
pic!
LOL.

I can't quite "superspy zoom" the "creek walking track" sign on the left... it's not quite clear enough!

A fair attempt at finding a clue, Peter. This may give it away, but the sign says
"Ruby Creek Walking Track"

It's the
camp ground on the way to Yerranderie near Mt Werong

Yes, Michael, that's it.
I've been trying to find the history of the substantial stone hut but have drawn a blank so far. My son and I camped there a few weeks ago. There is evidence of a power supply and telephone service, both now long gone. Also there is a disused
communications tower on the site.
These lead us to think it was once a forestry HQ but I can't find any confirmation of that and there's nothing on the signage about the building.
If anyone has any info I'd sure appreciate you posting it here or email frankp79athotmaildotcom.
Your turn, Michael

Hi Frank, I origanly thought of the walking track and
picnic area between Mt Beauty and the top of Mt
Bogong whilst having lunch time. It looks very similar except of the tall tower when I zoomed in (cheating). The tower at this picnic ground (I cannnot remember), is part of the small hydro power system in the Kiewa Valley. I spent much time up there as a kid.

Very like one spot at Yellow Waters in
Kakadu, except there wasn’t a hand rail on the landing when we were last there. Maybe the crocs were getting too familiar?

I thought it may be
the junction of the Murray & Darling Rivers but the left watercourse (Darling) was too clean. Keep thinking.

Yes Stephen you are right on the money (pun intended).
I was going to exclude you for a while as your local knowledge would be instant but I thought you needed a win.
Your turn.
Cheers

Correct, Briste. The GJ Coles retail empire had some of its roots planted here in St James.

Nope. You're heading broadly in the right direction, but need to travel further.
Clue: You can
camp here, but need to ask permission from a nearby
homestead.

That image may be a bit too arty for it to be distinguished from other such sites, so here is another view, possibly more recognisable:
A very long time since the last mining activity

Your first clue, Rocky by name and nature helped, but it took a while.
I think it might be
Sliding Rock, north east of
Beltana.
The chimneys in Stephen L's photos at
Sliding Rock are very similar, so that's my guess.

Correct!!! Very hard to fool Frank "I've been everywhere, man" P.
For those considering camping there, apparently
Warraweena has been sold, and the people at
Beltana were uncertain whether the camping arrangement at
Sliding Rock would continue. Best
check with the
Beltana mob if in doubt. Would be a pity of it doesn't - perfect place to take a KK.

" Very hard to fool Frank "I've been everywhere, man" P."
I wish that was true, Briste.
Forced to be at
home this travelling season, with more time on my hands for sleuthing than I really want :-(
