Hi all,

Hoping to do the Old Andado track in the next couple of weeks - has anyone done this recently and got up to date info on it's condition or anything else I should be aware of?

Will be coming from Alice, to Santa Teresa, to Mac Clark, to Andado.

Would appreciate any info from people who have done this recently.

Hi James B
Take your time, as there is a lot to see along the way. You can read my trek report here on EO. We have travelled it 4 times, and each time is as great as the first. Watch out for Bull Dust sections, but other than that you will have no problems. Watch out for cattle and also camels, as we have had 2 closes encounters in 1 trip, the camels came running out of the scrub, right in front of our vehicle.

Even through it is an easy trip, still prepare as if it is a remote trip, as if you have vehicle problems, and do not have any way of contacting the outside world, you will feel like you are in another world.

Enjoy this great outback track, and you will want to do it again.

Regards

Stephen

Was there a week ago, all Stephen says is correct.

The Homestead is currently managed by a caretaker couple and well worth the look.
Have a look at the Waddy trees supposed to some of the rarest in Aus.

Good scenery and well worth the effort.

Hi James,

I was up part of this track this afternoon. All the major bulldust was settled with the recent rain. Track is rutted from trailers coming through day after the rain but they are easily negotiated at this time.
Lance and June are the current caretakers till the end of the month. Delightful people. You must see Mac Clarke Reserve, iconic Australian location.
Good art work in Santa Teresa. Great out back trek.

Enjoy

Thanks Ian - I look forward to calling in at Mt Dare too :)

Would people suggest camping at Old Andado Homestead, or staying in the accomodation there? I'm assuming its like cabins?

Camping out the back appealed to me more than staying in the dongas out back.

But its up to you.

Hello Ian
Nice to meet you the other week.
Cheers

I camped at Old Andado in Oct last year. Fabulous drive, and the rest of the track through to Mt Dare is also a must. BUT -the mozzies were as bad as any I have ever come across any where, including Yellowwater in Kakadu. Have lots of protection!!
