After reading post 39000 it has occurred to me that there has not been a debate on which is the best portable
toilet.
This will give us a new topic to get to the `bottom` of. It will make a change to Nissan v/s Toyota, Engel/ Waeco, Honda/ Kipor etc etc.
So come on fellow
forum contributors please have your say in which brand that you consider to be ` number one in twos`
After this topic has been done to death, another debate can be had on which additive is the best. Regards G.T.

The brand doesn't matter. Put a Fitch on any of them and the back pressure will be reduced and you will be able to go further between stops.

I like the dENGEL, sorry, I mean Dangle. Hardly any smell, the picture on the back of the door changes all the time, and the tickle from the blow flies is sensational!!

If I answer this I'll only dig a hole for myself, and I don't want to stoop so low......then It'll need a coverup operation

IMHO it's not the brand that counts but the SIZE.
The smaller capacity units have around 11 litres storage capacity before it is full and this could be achieved by two people in two or three days and then you are in "Deep Sheet".
A larger capacity unit with give around the 20 litre storage capacity so you get more visits between refills, or more "bang for your buck".
Oh, and bugger a separate thread.
The most practical and safest product to use in the dunny is BioMagic.
You don't need separate "Green" and "Pink" solutions for the top and bottom tanks.
BioMagic does both.

Well, we carry two portable
toilets. Our favourite is Jimmy's Thunderbox. Takes up no space, but can't always be used.
We also carry a 'porta pottie'. I think the brand is Thetford, but it hardly matters. It is one of the smaller capacity ones, which is no problem as it is pretty much only used by my wife. I fully accept her position that she doesn't want to have to wander off into the bush at night (or even during the day).
Only problem is she uses it, but I empty it. She thinks that's a fair division of labour. I don't but as a gentleman I continue to empty it anyway. That's one of the reasons I prefer Jimmy.
Bio Magic is the chemical of choice. Very little required and it is eco friendly. It is one of few that can be emptied into a septic or Enviro Cycle type system.

There is a bag type contraption caled a WAG Bag it contains a Zip lock bag, wipes for hands and back side. Smell killing stuff and costs about $2.00 each bag.
You cant do any hiking in national parks without one of these bags anymore. So I found out.
www.ferno.com.au
is the web site for them if any one is interested.
Cheers Kev

Info from NSW National Parks.
We did canyoning in the Blue Mountains a couple of months ago and they specifically noted that they were required. As you are not allowed to Sh!!!!!!t in the woods any more.
Cheers Kev

Tell that to all the animals :-)
Canyoning is a different kettle of fish compared to bushwalking etc. They may place stipulations on these areas, due to the fact that you would be within 50m of a watercourse for 99% of the time when canyoning.
As to being a requirement for all NPs even in NSW, i highly doubt it, though wouldn't be surprised.

i could be wrong, but i was under the impression that you had to carry a porta-pottie or the like, to stay at
ningaloo homestead these days. i'm a shovel and matches man myself, but in busy
places there is only so many
places to dig holes.
or just take imodium every day for 2 weeks then when you get home....................stand back!!

Well My prostate proceedure was postponed so I have committed to memory every Public convenience in the ACT, in a real immergency though any thing will do....
Now lets get on to the additives: I think the Nazi additive ie Quicklime does a good job of jobbies....Not that I'm commending the regime.
The
dump point seems to be a real social thing in most van parks, always someone ther discussing their favorite Additive...

Jimmy's Thunderbox/Wag Bags. When the ground is too hard to dig or the location is too busy/not ethically acceptable then put in a Wag Bag. Casper
