saw somw nice stuff that i think i would like..No.... WANT

if you bought a off road camper do you think your swmbo would believe you when you bought it home telling her that you won as 1st prize in the raffle?

(it worked with a band saw, and bench planer...but would it work with a camper)

Well 1, we are heading there this arvo, would give it a try but swmbo will be with me so may make the whole raffle thin a tad harder, still worth a try though :-)

G'day No 1

The same type of show is on here in Tamworth (Country Music Capitol of Oz) next week - 2nd to 4th March. I'm looking fwd to having good look about and seeing if there is anything I DON"T WANT. LOL

I don't have a SWMBO to convince but I spose I could kid myself and at least buy a raffle ticket hehehehe

Cheers

Was there any "show specials", or bargains, or anything expensive?

I went yesterday, was looking for some new camping seat, tables, stretcher for work as sick bed and a few other things. Priced all before going to the camping show at snowys and boots. checked out these items at show and found i could still buy same brand item at camping shops out side of show for same price and some cheaper.

As per Truckie's post above, let us know what specials are on offer. Considering going to the Sydney version this year. Hopefully it has improved on a few years ago.

I'm getting along OK Bob, crankier by the day according to SWMBO. Trust you enjoyed Tassie as much as we did many years ago. Got the same problem as you, too much hard labour between trips hahahahahaha

I'm heading to the show this arvo. my SWMBO wouldn't believe me if I said I won a raffle, I never win anything. : ( I am hoping the Coleman water heaters are on special though, might be able to wangle one of those.

I spent all day Wednesday there. I was actually pretty impressed with it all. I got a great price on a rear vision camera set up.
Let us know if you get away with it because i would like to try the same thing with a few bits of camping gear too.

You guys need a swmbo like mine as she said to me "Lets buy an Adventure offroad camper" so with much persuasion I did!
I guess it's one of the adventages of having a swmbo who is a nurse, they see so much death and illness that they live for today.

cheers

My spouse dampened my enthusiasm yesterday when she stated, "same old, same old, no new gadgets that we need". (as apposed to what I may WANT)

So what did I come away with?

A "Cook'em" book from "Tommo". I will now be able to catch prawns with a bunch of sticks and cook them to perfection on the camp oven.

Boy oh boy though, the price of food and drink was ridiculous. $16.80 for a roast beef & salad sandwich, a small bucket of chips and two bottles of cool drink. Legalised robbery IMO.
Fortunately I bought the admission tickets through our social club at work at half price, so it almost balanced out.

I got a good deal on the Coleman hot water on demand unit. $329 for the unit, carry bag, shower, gas hose and a gas cylinder.

I also bought one of theose hitchmaster kits, summat else to stick in the shed and never use again I guess but it looked good and the salesman was a slick talking dude who could sell ice to the eskimoes..

wwwq.thehitchmaster.com.

It's a gadget (or 6 gadgets if you buy at the show) that aid in securing and lifting with a rope, a sort of pulley system. Alex lifted an engine block using it. Which might be useful to the owners of 3.0 GUs ;)

I got sucked in with that hitchmaster kit aswell today. Your right about that sales bloke.

I also lifted that same engine block with it and lifted it with only one hand. I had a go at lifting it without the hitch master and it was definately not plastic.

Im the same as you Pat dont know if I will use them after thinking about it
...............hmmmmmmm I know of a 3.0 GU that I might be able to use them on, my brother has one lol

The show was good but I didnt eat there, as said above bloody expensive

Cheers Luke

I was there Friday looking at the hitchmaster as well. Didn't buy one (again). I get tempted every time but the truckies hitch still works for me. I had a close look at the rope he uses - it is very slippery and is probably lubricated to make it slip so neatly around the metal.

Well, the muddies spent the whole day at the show today and spent a fortune as usual.

Bought a 15 amp Ctek charger to go in the camper and also got a Primus canvas tourer tent for those trips that the camper is not good for.

The tent looks every bit as good as the Southern Cross model at about 30% of the price. It may not be quite as good but we had it up on the grass here at home and it is going to be a huge improvement over our current dome tent!

Cheers

We went on Friday afternoon. Drooled over some of the nice vans but figure we don't need one until retirement in 7 years when we can pick up one of the ones we like now second hand.

We only bought a CTEK charger and a subscription to "Camping" magazine. It will be a shame if we win the subscription comp. The prizes were a Cobb (got one), Dream Pot (Got One), Waeco fridge (GOT ONE) and a Oztent (don't have one and don't like them and we already have too many tents!)

We don't think we will go next year.
