Morning Uncle
You are truly a lucky man to be able to see sights like that. I know people in this great country who would pay lots of $$$ to be there to see that. I get to watch sunrises and sunsets over the water too but
mine are when I'm working on the inland dams of North West area of NSW - usually Keepit or Splitrock dams near
Tamworth.
Great
pic - thanks for sharing
Cheers

Hi
John, yes we really appreciate living near the water now.I dont think we could move back inland after being here. Just did a google on the Endeavour, and apparently they are on their way back to
Sydney from a Tallship gathering in
Devonport Tas. Cheers Laurie.

Brilliant Uncle trully brilliant...
You do have to ask the question though, given the overall technology of the time do you think James
Cook and his peers were braver men than are around today, I mean they bravely went wher no man had gone before... with not even a paddle to get up the proverbiasl creek should they get there...

Mr Fawlty,
If you ever get a chance, read Farley Mowat's book 'Ordeal by Ice'. He gives a really good perspective on the question you ask.
Matt.

I once worked on the
young endevour.
One of my better postings.
That and posted to a survey vessel were the best postings I had.

I was loaned posted to her around mid 95.
And my last name, as
well as a bad night on Sambucca at the Coogee bay hotel got me the name.

Pretty ship too. I was her liaison officer for the bicentennial tall ships event.
Wollongong also provided a loose anti piracy escort for her when she went to Indonesia for the 50th anniversary of independence.
We were supposed to loiter in her general vicinity while she transited the archipelago without being seen by the trainee crew. Bungy Williams was the CO then and invited us to swing past one afternoon. We came over the horizon at 'top of the green' and did some flashy turns and donuts before taking the trainees on an hours zoom around the ocean.
Burning diesel at 1.3 tonnes per hour was such fun!
Pete
