We are looking for a good caravan park to stay in while we are in Hawker (4 nights)and Coober Pedy ( 2 nights). We will be travelling there in September 2007.
Thanks Julie

I can recommend the Oasis CP in Coober Pedy.

Located in the Main Street.
Being Coober Pedy, there is no grass, but a well presented CP all the same and within walking distance to town shops, etc.

A few years ago now, we spent a night in the Caravan Park at Hawker that is on the Leigh Creek Road. It was pretty good.

Have not stayed at the other one.

Re Cooberpedy: Whilst we have not stayed at any here, I believe the Stuart C/Pk (I think it is) that is near the main road is pretty good. (Recommended to my by some locals.)

Hope this helps a little.

Hi Julie

we stayed at the Flinders Ranges Carvan Park in Hawker - sitelink 2 on the first reply, we found it quite good, close to town, walking distance to the railway if you're able to go for a ride on the Pichi Richi Railway, very clean and quiet when we were there.

In Coober Pedy we have also stayed at the Oasis, it was quite good as well, you're able to organise tours with them if you're interested in that.

cheers

Lyn

I think the Pichi Richi leaves from Quorn, not Hawker.

Julie

realising I was lost and giving you false information....re Hawker, we didn't stay at either park, but we did stay at the CP at Rawnsley Park which was a terrific place to stay.

Sorry for being a dufus on this post, thanks Dave for pointing out that I was lost in the Flinders..

cheers

Hi Julie

A bit out of Hawker but we did Raunsley Park recently. Great spot to stay. Can even get some grass sites if you ask.

cheers

Am currently sitting in the Oasis Big 4 at Coober Pedy and it is definately the best but not brilliant.

Personally I would stay in the caravan bark in Melrose, just south of hawker, it is brilliant.

The Big 4 at Coober Pedy is friendly and pleasant. Do the town tour with Rudy from the camp. He is a character. Chris.
