Has any one gone along this road. From outside of Walcha through Gloucester to above Newcastle

I just did it at night and was wandering what it was like in the day light I reckon it would have been a nice trip :) in the day.

Traveled this road many times. Yes - it would be worth while doing a daylight trip. The scenery is great - particularly between Gloucester & over the mountain.

This is on my list of things to do and seems like a pleasant way to avoid both the New England and Pacific Highways between Sydney and the Gold Coast. A Dorrigo native, now living up here, said it was beautiful trip regardless of the time of year

yes, it's a beautiful trip during the day. Magnificent scenery especially around Nowendoc and interesting towns.

Thought as much but hard to tell during the night - bad planning on my behalf.

Not a bad way to go as the road from Newcastle to Coffs can be a shocker with lots of traffic, stop/starts and variations in speed limits (also called money makers).

Will try and do in day time next time,
Thanks for the replies,

Richard

You might even try a loop which takes in good sealed/gravel road from Knorrit Flat to Tamworth - very few travellers on this one.

Cheers

Have done it a number of times and found it to be a nice scenic alternative.
If you are lookingfor a fadt way to beat highway speeds forget it.

As mentioned in previous posts, a scenic drive.

Sounds like next time I will do during the day and experience this drive properly. Not fun at night.
