Hi everyone,
We are doing the simpson/
Hay river trek and having a look at Diamantine NP then back to
Gladstone. we have 8 days to work our way back from Diamantina back to
Gladstone. Anyone got any tips or campsites or things to see on the way back possibly at the NPs mentioned???

Salvator Rosa is definitely worth a visit, easy drive in from
Tambo on the Dawson Dev Rd will be very cold in Winter. Our dishes left for a clean next morning were in frozen tub of water, hahahaha
It is were the Nagoa River starts which feeds the
Fairbairn Dam.

We came up through there last year.
After spending a couple of days at
Hunters Gorge in the Diamantina NP, we headed north vis
Old Cork Station (OK
camp),
Lark Quarry (camped in the mulga just north of
Lark Quarry), Bladensberg NP - (looked OK),
Winton,
Longreach (caravan park near Stockmans Hall of Fame), then followed the Thompson River south via Lochern National Park (we had a magic
campsite on the river and a good drive around the park), Welford NP - didn't
camp there but there we some good sites on the river),
Windorah, Haddons Cnr,
Innamincka etc.....

Lark Quarry to
Windorah is a nice drive. Nothing much at
Opalton unless you want to do some noodling but the
camp area does have
toilets. The flies nearly carried us away at the Diamantina NP.

Hi.
I'd certainly recommend Lochern and Welford National Parks. Great camping spots beside water, isolation, interesting pastoral history,
geography etc.
Have fun.
