I am venturing to Tasmania in January for a 7 day trip of Tasmania. Not intending, or need to see everything this time, but can any members recommend any 'must-dos' around
Hobart and
Launceston?
Also - any spots along the East Coast that people have enjoyed.
Thank you.

Salamanca market in
Hobart on every Saturday is a good look. Penguins at
Bicheno,
Lagoons beach is a nice spot to
camp.
Hobart museum is interesting. Glad yourn not trying to see everything in 7 days lol.

Richmond & Salamanca Mkt (Saturdays) in

It will depend a bit on what interests you...
If you like to see historic sites, make sure you visit
Ross, Campbelltown (both between
Launceston and
Hobart),
Richmond and
Port Arthur (both within a couple of hours of
Hobart). There are many other sites of interest across the island as
well including the Maritime Museum in
Devonport, Entally House (just off road from
Devonport to
Launceston), Shot Tower (south of
Hobart).
If you like to see nice scenery, you shouldn't go past the Freycinet Peninsula (
Coles Bay). Most people take the short stroll up to the saddle to look down to
Wineglass Bay but the view is much better from the top of Mt Amos (if the weather is good).
If you like chocolate, you might like to visit the Cadbury factory in
Hobart but they are often closed early in Jan and may be heavily booked later in Jan.
While you're in
Hobart, take a drive up Mt
Wellington for a great view (and a big chill). Many people rave about Salamanca Markets but there wasn't much (anything) there that interested us and it certainly wasn't a patch on Paddy's Markets in
Sydney.

Check out my
blogs on Tassie - pick the East and Midlands
blogs. Depends on what you like. The coast around
St Helens is lovely, and the free camps are along some the best parts of the coast.
