We had planned to break up our drive by staying at Expedition NP. Due to floods it is closed. Has anyone stayed isla gorge or Glebe Weir near Taroom? Or could recommend a nice campsite on way? also we Booked in at Dargonelly at Mt Moffat but the ranger said we would enjoy Moffat Top campsite away from any crowds. Any advice? Road condition from Tarroom to Injune? i amwaiting for ranger to ring me back.

Hi Carlin, are you booked in at Easter? we are and I rang NP in Roma yesterday and was told that Dargonelly was the only one opened. Also they would not be letting people know untill about the 30th if the road would be open anyway.
Lets us know what the Ranger has to say please?

I spoke to the rMt Moffat ranger mike yesterday afternoon. We are booked at dargonelly but he told us to camp at mt moffat top as we like bushcamping. His name is mike 46263581 Mt Moffat ranger. He was most helpful and he said to just drop in when we get there. He said road into dargonelly is fine a few potholes. I am waiting for taroom ranger to ring me on ways to get there. Where are you coming from?

Lake Murphy just to the north west from Taroom is a very quiet camp area. Nominal cost to camp there.

Carlin
We stayed at Isla Gorge last year, very nice spot with very good views of the surrounding area. There is a day visit area with toilets and water tank, also a covered area with information boards. Acamping area is provided with separate camp sites. The entrance into the park is easy to miss but is at the top of the range approx 36km south of Theodore.

Hi Carlin, yes Top Moffat campsite was a good area when we were there (though that was some time ago). I would suggest though you think seriously about going if rain threatens - we spent one wet Easter there mostly huddled under a tarp, worrying about what sort of quagmire the road would be in. Much more pleasant later in the year when it was dry and sunny.
If the Taroom-Roma road is open, that is a good way through (a fair bit of bitumen now), and you can turn off on to the Stirling Downs(?) road to shorten the distance.

Cheers, John
