I am planning the following trip in June and am wondering about general road conditions. 2 people in a single car with trusted offroad camper trailer.

From Tibooburra via Cameron Corner, Merty Merty Homestead on Strezlecki Track and onto Innamincka, Cordillo Downs Road and then Diamantina Development Road to Bedourie and Boulia.

I'd appreciate any comments on possible road conditions and track difficulty.

Hi Peter and Ann,

My experience of being on the road a large part of the last twelve months is to be flexible.
Sure make your plans - then keep looking at the various state transport info websites, weather reports, forums and other random websites.

The weather is rainy and unpredictable and road conditions are constantly changing so to predict for June - well I'll just get my crystal ball out.

Once you set out then be flexible - have a plan but know that you will probably have to change it. That being said some of my most delightful experiences have happened when I just stayed open to the possibilities and went with the flow of roads opening and closing.

Never drive on a closed road ! it could cost you dearly in many ways.

Good luck

G'day,

I abolutely agree. I was out that way May/June last year and the weather caused a couple of route changes, no biggy though it is all part of the fun and excitement, especially when talking with others getting snippets of info and working out a strategy.

The trade-off.....you will see the country looking amazing, possibly at its best!!

Enjoy the trip
Cheers
Ev

Peter & Ann

If the roads are open and dry you will be fine. Just keep the speed and tyre pressures down.
My trips through that part of the world over the last three years have had to be modified due to rain and road closures.
Maybe a couple of plan "B" and "C's".

safe travelling

Peter and Ann,

I am planning a trip away in late April..
Sydney-Nyngan-Bourke-Wannaaring-Tibooburra-Cameron Corner to the Strezlecki and down to Marree etc..Lake Eyre Flights booked etc.
I am sweating on the weather clearing and the roads drying out a little, as a lot of the roads I am travelling are currently closed ie Cameron Corner to Merty Merty etc

As suggested alll you can do is watch the road reports and keep your fingers crossed, and have a plan B, mine involves too much black top, you dont have that luxury

Try the links below, regularly updated

Good luck and Take care
