A handy caravan park to keep in mind for your return on the boat is the one at Latrobe as it is pet friendly and also only ten minutes from Devonport only a small park but very clean and tidy also a free dog run area across the road

We returned from Tassie about 4 weeks ago. The highlights were the adventure cruise out of Kettering to Bruny Island and Gunn Plains Caves just to mention a couple. The well advertised tourist spots were as you would expect them to be.You will get good information at the Parks office on the boat.
Worst spot that we camped was at Roseberry as it was raining all the time and other choices wasn't all that good either.
Mt Field National Park was a good spot too

I hate to say this, but three weeks in Tassie is no where near enough time to take it all in, you need three months.
You haven't said which direction you will be travelling, so, if you get off the boat and turn right, you have the main towns of Ulverstone, Burnie, Wynyard and on to Stanley, climbing the Nut is a must and you can also free camp to the left of it.

From Stanley to Smithton, Dismal Swamp is worth a look then on to Green Point about 2-3 ks out of Marrawah, or down to Arthur River where you can do a day trip up the River, a bit of history and a pleasant day.

Travel down through the Tarkine to Corinna, on to the Fat Boy (barge that cross's the Pieman River) down through Zeehan to Strahan, do the trip up the Gordon River, but camp out at Macquarie Heads.

Through Queenstown to Derwent Bridge, approx 7ks out of Derwent Bridge call in and have a look at "The Wall", it's the history of the area carved out of Huon Pine, travel to Hamilton, free camp, from here you can travel to Westerway and out to Lake Pedder.

Back to New Norfolk and on to Hobart, down to the Huon Valley, a new CVP opened yesterday and is dog friendly, from here out to the Tahune Air Walk.

Then back to Hobart and head for the East Coast, there are free camps all the way up the coast, make sure you go to Freycient Peninsula and walk to Wine Glass Bay, this is a National Park, doggie will have to be left in the car.

Up to the Bay of Fires, best camps are South or North Cosey Corner, also plenty of area at Dora Point, there is also Ansons Bay, Policemans Point, or head for Eddystone point light house, about 3ks before you get there, a turn of to the left will take you to Deep Creek, a lovely spot.

At this stage i think you will be making tracks along the North East Coast heading for the boat, but, there a camp sites at Waterhouse Point, South Croppies Point.

Enjoy your visit to Tassie, hope all the above helps.

Cheers
Baz
PS. I haven't mentioned the Central Highlands, cause i don't think you will have the time.
Go caravaning, life is so much shorter than death.

Hi Maureen

You won;t fit much into three weeks, but it depends what you like. Mountains? Forests? Coastal towns?

I have brief blogs on our seven weeks in 2006 in My Blogs if you like to have a look at some of what were highlights for us.

Trowunna Wildlife Park - great place to see Devils and cuddle a Wombat.
Bruny Island boat cruise - fantastic.
Boags Brewery Tour - excellent
Cradle Mt - only if weather is fine.
Jacobs Ladder and there'a another similar drive I can't recall the name of at the moment - interesting, but no towing on these.
Wall in Wilderness - amazing skill on show
Free camping all over the place - get the booklet when you're down there. Ask other travellers you meet.
