Trip to Cape York

Hi All.

8200 kms after I left for Cape York I am home again. The trip was great. Drove to Cairns and stayed for a couple of days before heading for the Top. Called in at Laura for lunch and met this fella "Wolfe" who resides there most of the time. Had a beer with him and it turned out that he came from the same suburb as myself, 40 years ago. Had another beer, and another and decided to stay the night. Great crowd of people at the hotel that night. Left the next morning and drove the Musgrave Station. Called in for fuel. BUT. A car rally had been through. 120 cars had drained them dry. Drove non to Coen and filled up plus two jerry cans, just in case they turned up again. Next stop Weipa. Stayed for two days. Then back to the OTL. first stop Bramwell Junction. Lunch. Set off for the Jardine Ferry. 70 Kms north the road deteriated so much for the next 20 Kms, that speed was down to 15 Kms if you were lucky. Missed the last ferry and set off the next morning for Seisia. Pulled into Loyalty Bay. Sunday set off for the Top. Had a great day including Sommerset.
Monday trip to T.I. and Horn Island. This was something to remember. Tuesday hung around the area for the day before setting off south on Wednesday to Archer River. Then back down to Laura. Rest of the trip home was Via Mereeba, Atherton and down to Moree, Tamworth and home to Sydney. It was a great trip. Only Problem was the transmission cooler came loose and had to be refitted. I'm glad that it only came loose. Xtrail & T-Van made it through with no problems. Thanks to everyone that gave me advice on the trip and to those people I met along the way. Had a great time and look forward to doing it again some day.

Mrbrush.

Yes the Jardine Ferry! Arrived there at 5 pm and found that it had closed for the day. Last trip was from the North side and it wasn't going back again.

Cost - Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !

$88.00 return Plus $30.00 for the T-Van. Filled up the Xtrail. $1.95.9 p/l It was the same at Seisia and Bamaga.

The Xtrail did well though - 14 Lts / 100 kms. Normally 10.5 without the Tvan.

Must do it again sometime. Regards Steve

Yes Mattie. I think that was where I had a altercation with a Road Train on the bridge at I went through. The drive gave me a huge amount of, Something like, f************** idiot, Don't you give way, Lucky you got away with it this time. - It was the first one I met. After that, I enjoyed the Channel 40 Chat with them. Train at call 34 and so on.
