ExplorOz Traveller: Offline Zoom Issues

ExplorOz - David & Michelle

The offline map works a little differently to the online map. When offline, zoom levels 1,3,5,7,9,11 & 13 will display map data at 100% clarity, however the in-between zoom levels 2,4,6,8,10,12 will be overzoom (enlargements) of the previous level and hence will appear a little blurry. When viewing an overzoom level, notice that the zoom level number is highlighted in RED, but on levels showing 100% clarity the zoom level number is white. For optimum viewing of map data, avoid using overzoom.

Please also note, that the 144K map data is shown at Level 13 at 100% clarity. If you zoom into Levels 14, 15 & 16 - these are all overzoom of the Level 13 map data so will appear blurry but do offer an enlargement which can be useful at times.

For optimum use when driving in the outback with the map screen in view, we recommend that Level 11 is best for seeing the path ahead, whilst Level 13 gives maximum zoom for details.

For optimum use when driving in urban/built up areas with the map screen in view, we recommend switching to online maps so that you can access additional detail at the higher zoom levels.
