This is explained in the Help/Instructions Manual in the section on the GPS Lock. On the map screen, in the bottom left, you'll see a circular icon just above the zoom controls. This is the GPS Lock button. To enable the map to lock onto your position, and to keep the GPS tracking your position as you move this button needs to be orange in the centre - that means the GPS lock is on. Be aware that anytime you touch the map the GPS lock is deactivated (this to allow you to pan around the map without it snapping back to your current position) so you need to touch it again it set the lock if you wish to keep your position showing in the centre of the map window as you move.

The button actually has 3 different modes - the third, is an orange arrow. This is the Track Up mode, which changes the orientation of the map window so that your direction of travel will also be shown going up on the map, this means the map will rotate as you change bearing. Map labels do not rotate so this is not always the easiest way to read the map but for some people this is a preferred way to orientate the map when driving.
